DGN Seniors Selected for All-State Theatre Production
The Illinois High School Theatre Festival has selected two Downers Grove North students to join the production crew for its prestigious All-State production of Something Rotten. Seniors Tess Lerette and Maya Surmanski are both a part of the select group to earn the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside some of Illinois’ most talented young performers. Selection to the All-State company is one of the highest honors available to high school students in Illinois.
For Tess, this marks her third appearance in an Illinois All-State production, an extraordinary accomplishment achieved by very few students during their high school career. Maya will be joining the All-State production for the first time, recognizing her talent and dedication as a theatre artist.
Beyond their All-State accomplishments, both seniors have made lasting contributions to the Downers Grove North Theatre Program through leading productions and events backstage, as well as service as student leaders, helping to foster the environment that defines DGN theatre. “These two represent everything that’s special about our program, and it’s exciting to see their dedication recognized on a statewide stage. I am very proud of them.” said Ariel Mozes, Director of Theatre at DGN. Principal Courtney DeMent added, “To have two of our seniors recognized among the top high school theatre performers in the state is such an honor. We can’t wait to watch and support them as they represent DGN on the state stage.”
Please join us in celebrating this outstanding achievement and in cheering Maya and Tess on as they represent their school and our community at this year’s Illinois High School Theatre Festival.
Congratulations Maya and Tess!
