DG Girls' Gymnastics Team wins 2025 IHSA State Championship
It was an end to a great season for the Downers Grove co-op gymnastics team Saturday afternoon at the IHSA state meet. The team took home the 2025 IHSA State Championship, its second title in three years.
The Trostangs added .275 points to its team score in the individual finals, finishing with a record-breaking 148.725 points.
Downers Grove South senior Genevieve Herion, who earned first place in the all-around, won the state balance beam crown with a 9.575 while she placed second on vault (9.675), sixth on uneven bars (9.425), and eighth on floor exercise (9.1).
Downers Grove North's Kaelyn Landry placed fifth on uneven bars (9.475) to add to the team score , and Caroline Phillip (9.425) took seventh on vault.
The team celebrated the win with a parade through Downers Grove before making their way back to Downers Grove South to celebrate another successful season.
