Social Studies

Our Social Studies curriculum is essential in shaping students into empathetic, active members of both our democracy and the global community. By developing strong literacy in the social sciences, students can better understand current events in the context of history. Classroom experiences foster critical thinking, from basic reasoning to more abstract concepts, helping students become informed decision-makers who can support and defend diverse viewpoints.

We emphasize reading, writing, communication, and skills development in research, technology, and interpersonal areas to ensure student success. Our curriculum includes open-ended, essential questions to encourage deeper learning.

All students must complete one year of Global Connections, one year of U.S. History, and one year of electives.

College-bound students should note that social studies courses are often required for many undergraduate programs. Students aiming for professional degrees may pursue social science majors, so taking academically challenging social studies courses is recommended.
