English and Communications

The Department of English and Communication aims to help students become skilled speakers and writers of English while fostering an appreciation for literature. Four units of language arts credit are required for graduation, with additional credits available to meet college or career goals. In grades 9–11, students can choose from a variety of courses tailored to their needs, with electives like journalism, speech, and humanities. In grade 12, students must elect from a large group of courses, including an Expression course and a Literature course. Students may also elect additional Language Art courses.
